CAPTAIN'S CHARITY DAY 2025

SATURDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER 2025

Dear Members,

This will be my final fundraiser as Captain of Broomieknowe Golf Club and I am keen to make it as successful and inclusive as possible.   The achievements of any fundraiser depend upon the goodwill and support of members and friends – this support was evidenced by the fantastic sum of over £2,370 raised last year.   Let’s try to top this in 2025 – we are well on the way with an excess of £1,200 raised already!   Crohn’s and Colitis UK is a fantastic charity that offers all sorts of support to sufferers and their families; I have first-hand experience of the impact Crohn’s Disease has on the lives of sufferers and their families and I am sure many of you will have experience and insight into the impact these conditions have.

Format

The event will be a Two-Ball Better Ball with teams of two gents, two ladies or mixed pairs in the competition.   Juniors with handicaps are very welcome to play with an adult member.    Prizes will be awarded in all three categories and special prize challenges will feature on the course.   Further instructions will be available on the day.   The additional prize raffle will be drawn as soon as possible after close of play.

A member is free to bring a visitor as their partner, but the event is not open to teams of visitors.   All members and their guests are welcome to play, and Playing Handicaps will be limited to 18 for men and 36 for ladies.   For clarity, a gent with handicap of 24 will receive a handicap of 18 and a lady with handicap of 40 will receive a handicap of 36.

Gentlemen will play from the white tees and ladies from the red.   Juniors should play from the tees they would normally use in competitions.

Entry Procedure and Cost

Entries should be made online with non-refundable payment of £10 per player (£20 per team) being made at time of entry.   CDH codes for visitors should be supplied at this point if possible. The competition will be available via Club V1 / How Did I Do from Friday 8th August 2025 at 6.30pm.

Refreshment Stop

There will be a mandatory stop at the white house at the 10th hole for complementary refreshments and a free raffle ticket for all players.   Additional tickets will be available for purchase and as usual, donations will be gratefully received!

I look forward to seeing you all on the day!!

Alison

Captain’s Report June 2025

Unfortunately, the championship week started with very poor weather that resulted in considerable delays to play and resulted in the Championship Qualifier being reduced to a single round. Although this was not a desirable position, thanks must go to Mark Patchett and John McMillan for their considerable efforts on the course and the decisions they had to make. We were fortunate to have good weather for the rest of the week and those who walked the course were privileged to see some very good golf.
